Steve McNair NFL Star: Video of Memorial

MOUNT OLIVE, Miss. -- The family and friends who grew up with native son Steve McNair didn't have to say goodbye to the ex-NFL quarterback by themselves Friday night. The tiny town of Mount Olive had plenty of company.

People -- both black and white, young and old -- drove in from nearby states and joined the locals parking cars and trucks on the side of the four-lane divided highway that runs beside Reeves Funeral Home. Some left cars across the highway, dodging traffic to join the line of people waiting to pay their last respects.

The visitation in McNair's hometown followed two days of mourning in Nashville where thousands remembered the 2003 co-MVP of the NFL who led the Tennessee Titans to the 2000 Super Bowl. A capacity crowd of 8,000 is anticipated Saturday at his funeral in Reed Green Coliseum on the University of Southern Mississippi campus in nearby Hattiesburg.

It was a far different turnout than the modest funeral for Sahel Kazemi, the 20-year-old girlfriend who shot the married McNair to death in his sleep on the Fourth of July and then shot herself in the head. Her brief funeral in Florida was closed to outsiders.

The Game: Crying For Attention

Well Luv Muffins The Game is once again crying for some much needed publicity and attention. I guess since his apology to 50 Cent went unanswered then his wanna be starting something beef with Jay-Z fell by the waist side. He decided in a very very desperate and hood elaborate way to seek some attention from Jay-Z. The Game decided in his small Disney mind that disrespecting the one and only Mrs. Carter aka Beyonce in his Madrid show last night would force Hova to address him. Sorry Game but in case you did not know- the crown of a king can't and won't be refitted. Our president is black...sit your behind down somewhere...UPGRADE your music and maybe then...*sigh* The lyrics are below thanks to Necolebitchie.com...the video is also online but I'm not posting it...LOL

This isn’t about Beef,
This isn’t about Destiny

I’m in Madrid banging the c-p-t

You got a bad b*tch word,

Ain’t no p*ssy like hers,

Just ask the Mavericks, Rockets, and the Spurs

I mean… I mean my b*tch don’t slang p*ssy like that…

My b*tch swangs p*ssy on a n***a from the back

So F*ck Jay-z,
You old azz ni**a

Steve McNair NFL Star: Killed By Jealous Mistress

Retired NFL Star, Steve McNair, was killed by his sideline ho, Sahel Kazemi, before turning the gun on herself. One of several planned memorials, which one was held yesterday at LP Field and several today in Tennessee before his body is transported to his final resting place of Mississippi. My prayers are with his wife, children, family, and a host of friends, devoted fans, and team-mates. I have been following this story very closely from the day the bodies were discovered...below are the latest details as they unravel according to the Tennessean.com

Sahel Kazemi ended a life that was coming undone, as she got in trouble with the law, faced mounting bills and saw a new relationship with former Titans quarterback Steve McNair unraveling.

Police believe that's why she killed McNair with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol while he slept, then turned the gun on herself in the early morning hours of July 4.

Investigators have ruled out the possibility that anyone else fired the fatal shots.

Kazemi, a Dave & Buster's waitress at Opry Mills, wasn't sure how to pay the bills for her upscale Hermitage apartment and new SUV. She was arrested for DUI on July 2 with her famous boyfriend in the passenger seat. And, she suspected McNair, who was married, was involved in a second affair. Kazemi had told friends and relatives that she and McNair were going to be together because he was divorcing his wife.

Police say she had recently spotted a woman leaving McNair's condo and followed the unidentified woman to her home, but she never confronted her. Police said they do not know if McNair was involved in yet another relationship outside of his marriage.

They believe he spent Friday night barhopping before going to his condo, where Kazemi was waiting.

Sometime after 1 a.m. Saturday morning, McNair was sitting on the sofa, asleep, when the 20-year-old shot him in the left side of the head with the gun she bought Thursday night, police said. She shot him twice more in the chest, then put the gun close to his right temple for the last shot.

Brandy: Dropped From Record Label?????

Rumors are a buzz that one of our favorite R & B songbirds may have been dropped from her record label, Epic, due to low sales on her last CD. It's being reported thus far she sold 196,509 copies of her last CD. I pray that Brandy wasn't dropped, however if so she is very talented and will surely do KIM and Keep It Moving. Just a few days ago a video surfaced of Brandy rapping her song, Party, which I heard a few months ago and simply LOVED so I was thrilled to see the video.

Antonia -TOYA - Carter: Releases Statement Concerning BET Awards!

Toya the co-star of BET's newest reality show, Tiny & Toya, and Lil Wayne's ex-wife and mother of his beautiful daughter, Reginae, issues a statement through her publicist concerning the negative feedback from the BET Awards. Drake and Lil Wayne performed "Every Girl", which many felt was extremely uncool to have underage girls on stage due to the explicit lyrics of the song. Antonia's statement is below.

I, Antonia ” Toya” Carter, have been disturbed but silent about the recent performance that took place at the BET awards, which including my only child Reginae Carter and her friends joining her father Lil Wayne on stage while he performed his new single “Every Girl”. I will be the first to admit that the father and daughter relationship should not have been reunited on stage for any particular reason while this song was being performed. Wayne is a very loving, caring, and devoted father and I truly feel that the act was unintentional due to the fact that he was trying to make his little girl happy by letting her be on stage with her father. Once again, I do not of any degree think it was a wise decision and I truly do apologize to all that this may offended and most importantly the children that watched this performance. I feel we all have learned a lot from this situation and pray that the viewers will allow these children to move forward with their lives and not held accountable because they are innocent.

Steve McNair NFL Star: Autopsy Results

A Sunday morning autopsy revealed that McNair died of four gunshot wounds — two in the head, two in the chest — sometime early Saturday. The woman police say McNair was dating, 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi, died of a gunshot wound to the side of the head. A semi-automatic pistol was found on the floor under her body.

It will take many days of interviews with their families and friends and witnesses who saw the 36-year-old McNair out on the town Friday night before police will rule whether the deaths were a murder-suicide or a double homicide.

“While it is clear McNair’s death is a homicide, the police department is not classifying Kazemi’s death, pending further investigation and interviews with persons who knew her and McNair,” police spokesman Don Aaron said at press conference this afternoon.

Rumors are swirling wildly around the deaths of the local sports hero, who is married with four boys, and the vivacious young waitress he had been seeing for several months.

Both their names appear on the title of the new Escalade she was driving, and the two were seen often together both at her Hermitage apartment and at the rented Second Avenue condominium where both of them died.

Police have little to say about the crime scene itself. The door of the condominium was locked securely when one of McNair’s friends arrived Saturday morning. He found McNair dead on the couch and Kazemi sprawled on the floor nearby.

The autopsy was able to answer some questions — contrary to rumor, initial results indicate Kazemi was not pregnant. Both victims were found fully clothed.

But many questions remain. It will be weeks before toxicology tests reveal whether either of them had alcohol or drugs in their systems. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives are tracing the gun’s registration to determine whether it belonged to McNair or someone else. McNair is licensed to carry a handgun in Tennessee.

Police are still trying to trace their final hours. Witnesses saw McNair at several night clubs around town, including the Blue Moon Lagoon and Losers. He returned to the condominium around 1:30 a.m. and neighbors said Kazemi’s Escalade was already in her parking spot.

Just days earlier, Nashville police had stopped the Escalade on Broadway and charged Kazemi, who was not even old enough to drink legally, with driving under the influence. Aaron said she has no other criminal record in Davidson County.

McNair was in the passenger’s seat and was not charged, in spite of the fact that as the co-owner of the car he was legally liable. He was arrested for driving under the influence and illegal gun possession in 2003.

Around 7 a.m. on the Fourth of July, McNair’s friend, Wayne Neeley, unlocked the condo he was co-renting with McNair. He spotted McNair on the couch and Kazemi on the floor, but walked past them to the kitchen, apparently not realizing anything was amiss. It was only when he returned to the living room that he realized both had been dead for several hours, Aaron said.

He then called another friend who joined him at the condo. They placed a call to police at about 7:35 a.m.

For now, Aaron said, police are considering every possibility as they try piece together what happened that night. They are not ruling out the possibility that someone else might be responsible for the deaths.

“We can’t be close-minded…All scenarios are on the table, he said “We’ve already begun talking to their friends to ascertain any squabbles they were having, were they upset with each other and if so, why.”

Steve McNair: NFL QB Found Dead

Steve McNair -- an NFL QB with the Tennesse Titans and Baltimore Ravens -- was found dead today in Nashville, Tenn., according to Nashville police.

McNair suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville. A female victim was also found dead. Police have not released the name of the female, only to say it is not McNair's wife, Mechelle.

The call to police came in at 1:35 PM. The circumstances surrounding the shooting deaths remain under active investigation.

There were no signs of forced entry at the crime scene. No suspects have been taken into custody.

Don Aaron, a spokesman for the Nashville Metro PD, told News Channel 5 in Tennessee, "When police officers arrived in response to that call, they found two individuals who had been shot to death inside the residence: one female, one male. We now know that the male deceased is Steve McNair. The female deceased has been tentatively identified. We're working to confirm that and then notify her next of kin."

McNair was a three-time Pro Bowler and was the NFL MVP in 2003. He retired in 2007.

Michael Jackson: Marlon Jackson Speaks

ESSENCE.com correspondent Roland S. Martin talks with Marlon Jackson, brother of Michael Jackson and a member of the Jackson 5, about the death of his younger brother, the King of Pop.

ROLAND S. MARTIN: Marlon, how did you find out about Michael's death?
MARLON JACKSON: I talked to Frank Dileo, Michael's manager. Frank told me that Michael last night was complaining about not feeling well. Michael's doctor went over to see him, and Frank said, "Marlon, from last night to this morning, I don't know what happened." When they got to him this morning, he wasn't breathing. They rushed him to the hospital and couldn't bring him around. That's what happened. They don't know what happened.

MARTIN: When was the last time you saw Michael?
JACKSON:
It was May 14 at a family gathering. I had just gotten back from Africa. Michael looked great. He was looking well. He was getting ready to go into rehearsals for his tour. I don't know what happened.

MARTIN: There were some reports he wasn't feeling well and was in a wheelchair.
JACKSON:
He wasn't in a wheelchair. He was walking around with his kids. When we saw him, he wasn't in a wheelchair. We all talked. He was doing great.

MARTIN: Was that the last time you spoke with him?
JACKSON:
May 14 was the last time I spoke with him. The last time I saw him.

MARTIN: Have you talked to any of your other family members about his death?
JACKSON:
I've been trying to get a hold of my mom. I talked to Jackie. I talked to Tito. They feel the same way. A piece of our heart, a piece of us went with him. It was a shock to them, too. I talked to my brother Jackie and he said, "Marlon, is it true?" I said, "I'm calling them right now to see if it's true." That's when I called Frank Dileo and I couldn't get to my mom. I talked to him the first time and he was at the house and my mom was in the background crying, and she was just upset.

MARTIN: Was Michael still at the house?
JACKSON:
Michael had passed. Frank told me, "We lost him."

MARTIN: And you said a doctor saw him last night, but he didn't see a need to take him to the hospital?
JACKSON:
He didn't take him to the hospital. This morning he wasn't breathing and they rushed him to the hospital. He was going to be 51 in August. Gone too soon.

MARTIN: Marlon, it's amazing to look at the reaction from all over the world. People are at the hospital, at the Jackson family home in Gary, Indiana, at his star on the Wall of Fame.
JACKSON:
I never knew the affect the Jackson 5 had on people until I began traveling with (Major Broadcasting) network, and people would say our songs were the reason for them getting married. Me and my brothers did what we did because we loved it. That's the way we thought. I'm happy that we did get a chance to just bring happiness to everybody, and Michael took it to another level to bring people happiness. He cared about people a lot. Michael was known all over the world, and that's why people care, and it's nice to see that people care. Not only did they grow up with my brother, but they grew up with the Jackson 5. He's definitely going to be missed. We are always going to remember him. We cannot forget him.

MARTIN: I hear the comparisons to Elvis Presley and people looking to him a generation later. I know it's very soon after the death of Michael, but should something like Graceland be established so the next generation is aware of Michael's impact?
JACKSON:
He's going to live on. He has left a legacy and it's going to be forever, and I really feel that in my heart. I want people to concentrate on those things that he did for people. He did a lot of positive things. He's going to live forever. I'm going to miss him. The memories, all the great things he has done, and my family is going to miss him. It's hard. It's really hard for us right now.

MARTIN: For the world he was the King of Pop. But for you, he was your younger brother.
JACKSON:
And that's the way we saw him, as a younger brother. It's like when anyone else loses their family member. It hurts. It hurts right now. It really hurts.

Happy 4th of July: Fun Facts

Happy 4th Of July! Today it's customary to celebrate the National holiday with red, white, and blue, fireworks and parades, stars and stripes, flags and bbqs. But before you go enjoy America to its fullest, take a quick look through my 4th of July fun facts! Chockful of useless information - unless you're attending a trivia night sometime soon - fun facts are great when there is a lull in party conversation. Memorize a few facts such as: Do you know what animal Benjamin Franklin preferred over the bald eagle as the official national animal? Do you know how many hot dogs are consumed at bbq's on today's date? For the answers to these questions and lots more tid bits of knowledge, all you have to do is dance like a chicken! No, I'm kidding, all you have to do is read more.
  • Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national animal but was outvoted when John Adams and Thomas Jefferson chose the bald eagle.
  • Over an estimated 150 million hot dogs will be consumed today. That's roughly 1 dog for every two people in the U.S.
  • Over $211 million has been spent on the importation of fireworks from China.
  • Oddly, the majority of the nation's flags and patriotic paraphernalia in relation to the 4th of July is produced in China. Nearly $349 million dollars are used each year to import in the flags, banners, decorations, and emblems.
  • The first 4th of July party held at the White House was in 1801.
  • The words Under God were not added to the Pledge of Allegiance until the year 1954.
  • More than 74 million Americans will bbq today.
  • The 4th of July was not declared a national holiday until 1941.
  • The national anthem is actually set to the tune of an old English drinking song called To Anacreon in Heaven
  • The stars on the original American flag were arranged in a circle to ensure that all colonies were equal.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day! Remember that fireworks are a fire hazard and scare animals, so be careful! Also, please don't drink and drive!

Drake: Speaks on BET Awards Show

Well baby loves I got some more Drizzy news!!!! Below is an interview that Drake did with Complex wherein he discusses the BET Awards, his deal, and him performing with and injured ACL. I rides with Drake so if he doing something I will certainly do my very very best to let you know...I just got his mixtape or CD and have been playing it 24/7. Even though the BET performance was primo wack I still *hearts* you Drizzy cause you da you da best!!!! *giggles*

Complex: There were rumors of a $4 million bonus…

Drake: [Laughs] Where is it? Tell me where it is, I’ll go pick it up right now. I got some money. I got a little money. I’ll be alright for a couple months.
Complex: Damn, that’s horrible. At the BET Awards this past Sunday, everyone was shocked to see you sitting on a stool. Did you ever think to yourself, Maybe I shouldn’t perform?

Drake: That, actually—to be honest—was a terrible idea that I’ll never do to myself again. [Laughs] But I was being pressed from different areas to perform, and I think what really happened at the BET Awards is with the passing of Mike, the climate really changed, as far as the award show goes. I don’t think it called for us to perform “Every Girl” and “Always Strapped,” and I think it was an award show filled with tributes and music and these genuine heartfelt speeches. And to sort of climax out of a very tongue-in-cheek point, and then people misconstruing Wayne’s daughters and her friends coming out on stage…

Complex: Yeah, it really was an awkward moment.

Drake: Yeah, it was just timed very poorly and it definitely wasn’t planned like that, but with that being said, it is what is. I believe in Wayne and myself and it’s nothing we can’t bounce back from. To anyone who was offended, my personal apologies, it wasn’t intended to offend anybody.

Complex: Watching it at home, the BET Awards seemed to be a mess. Did it seem that way in person?

Drake: Well, I can only speak for my portion of it. I had asked for something very specific for my performance and none of those were met, as far as production value, so…

Complex: That’s BET for you…

Drake: I understood my situation, as far as sitting in one place, and figured there was a way to make it interesting. But when I looked around and noticed that none of that was going on [laughs], I kind of just realized that it was going to be a loss for me. But at the end of the day, it is what it is.

Drake: New Video-Best I Ever Had

Well Saasy Muffins the wait is finally over and Drake Drizzy's new video produced by none other than Yezzy as in Kanye West!!! Oh I know you are giving me the *side eye stare right about now but blame it on the alcohol cause the video is ummmmm....moving right along on this ish really though!!! And, I loves loves loves me some Drake. **sigh** and Good luck with that boo!!! Kiss kiss and bang bang Kanye for that.

Vibe Magazine: Folded

Earlier this week the Internet was a buzz and news flooded many in boxes that one of our fabulous and fly magazines was NO MORE. The Dream and Christina Milian graced the last print issue. There have been rumors that Quincy Jones has plans to buy it back and make it into an online magazine.

Vibe, a staple of music journalism since 1993 and one of the most influential publications aimed at African-American readers, has folded.

The entire Vibe Media Group is shutting down effective Tuesday, according to a memo from CEO Steve Aaron. The staff had been in the process of editing a tribute issue of the magazine commemorating Michael Jackson.

The company was unable to secure financial backing, or to restructure a "huge debt," Aaron wrote. Declines in the music industry and in advertising worked against the business. "It’s also unfortunate that in a recession many companies reduce the multi-cultural campaigns," Aaron added.

Vibe Media Group was owned by private equity firm Wicks Group of Companies.

Vibe's last regular issue was published in May. Vibe Media Group had launched another spinoff in June The Most!, a glossy celebrity title meant to replace two issues cut from Vibe's publication schedule.

Vibe, which was founded in 1993 by Quincy Jones, billed itself as “the definitive voice of urban culture, influencing global music, life, and style.”

It had been a tough year for Vibe, which faced a steep drop in ad pages and circulation. Earlier this year, the magazine cut its rate base to 600,000 from 800,000, the second such cut in a year. Vibe also reduced its frequency from monthly to 10 times a year. Employees were put on a four-day workweek March 1.

Vibe rivals include The Source and XXL. In 2007, the company closed Vibe Vixen, a spinoff aimed at women.

Another music magazine, Blender, folded earlier this year. Blender was published by Alpha Media Group.

Vibe's closure was first reported Tuesday by AOL’s Daily Finance site. The VibeMagazine Twitter feed sent out a message early Tuesday afternoon saying simply, “Thanks for everything.”
